Brawl il terzo episodio della serie che, oltre ai personaggi gi presenti nei precedenti titoli per Nintendo 64 e GameCube, vede lesordio di molti nuovi arrivati, tra cui anche Solid Snake e Sonic, grandi protagonisti delle rispettive serie targate Konami e SEGA. Insieme alle classiche modalit di gioco in singolo e multiplayer (fino a 4 giocatori) in locale, Super Smash Bros. Brawl offre per la prima volta lattesissima modalit online, tramite cui sfidare giocatori residenti in ogni angolo del mondo. Questa novit contribuisce in modo determinante alla longevit del gioco, che ulteriormente arricchita dalla possibilit di cimentarsi in singolo con la sotto-sezione della modalit avventura chiamata Lemissario del subspazio. Cimentandosi con questa opzione infatti possibile sbloccare personaggi segreti e altri contenuti speciali.
